Topic: Johnson Center-
Source identification
For
this blog I decided to do some more research about the Johnson Center. I
found an article on the UK’s campus recreations page under the section titled “memberships”.
The URL was http://www.uky.edu/studentaffairs/campusrec/facilities/JohnsonCenter/memberships
and it did not have a set author nor the date of when it was published.
Topic: Johnson Center- Word summary
The Johnson center
is not only for UK students. Other people are allowed to work out in there. Of
course there are certain rules to who is allowed to go in. In this article they
first told us how current
University of Kentucky students who are enrolled in regular, on-campus classes,
and eligible BCTC students who have paid the recreation fee. I also learned
that Current UK and BCTC employees, retirees‚ Donovan Scholars‚ and VA employees
are eligible to purchase a Johnson Center membership. Memberships can be
purchased in the main office. Membership rates are about 75$ per
semester and 20$ for summer membership according to this article. The next
thing the article talked about was how a member of the Johnson Center is
allowed to buy a one day guest pass for 5$, and their guest must be with them
at all times while being in the Johnson Center. The last thing the article
talked about and maybe the most important information was that those who
purchase Johnson Center memberships must present their UK or BCTC student ID,
UK Faculty/Staff ID, or Johnson Center ID to gain admittance. And there is no
exception to this rule.

Reflections/questions
This article was helpful because I now have an idea on
who is allowed to work out in the Johnson Center. I can use this information in
further research if I ever need any type of information about the people who
work out there. Some questions that I have are: Do all UK students have to have
a membership in their tuition fees? Can random people from Lexington get a
membership? How do they know you are with your guest at all times? What happens
if you aren’t?
